The Beginning

Two weeks from today I will depart for Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the next day I'll get aboard the MV Explorer, along with 700 college students, 30 Life Long Learners. On August 28 the ship will embark for Cadiz, Spain and then ports westward around the world. I'm now in the process of getting shots, medications a bank accounts all in order before I start the packing process. My daughter, Wenda and husband Gregg will board the ship in Norfolk, VA, on August 24. She will lecture in Anthropology and will be making her forth trip on Semester at Sea. The Explorer sails from Norfolk to Halifax for final boarding

  2. Greetings from Elon on a cloudy, rainy Sunday. Received your emails and will respond ere long. Following the SAS blog which is up to date: classes on Sunday, orientations, etc. So what's happened to Earl's world? Nothing yet. Everyone wants to know what on Earth is Earl doing among all those students. Can you audit classes?

Henry wrote on this blog; however, I don't see it. Must be out in the ethernet.

Any luck with your Ipod? I had to purchase an Airport WiFi for my house ($100 from Apple)---which does let me do things ????---as well as place the IMac anywhere within range.

Are you getting in rough seas from the storm?

  6. Hey Earl ! I think I have finally figured this thing out. Glad to read all your news. Sounds like you are doing well hanging with the "young'uns" and holding your own. News from Fountain: Martha Wooten has had several water leaks under the house - daddy has patched and re-patched several times. We are hoping they will hold until you get home. Everything else is fine! I am eating your share of the scuppernongs - they are good this year. Take care, Jean (& Blacky)
